The Road – Cormac McCarthy

The Road - Cormac McCarthy

The Road - Cormac McCarthy

Who bought it: Me.

What is it: An unforgettable book! It’s about the journey of an unnamed father and son in a post-apocalyptic world. It’s hopelessly hopeful book. One of the best books that I ever read.

When: July 20, 2011

Where: Book Sale – Makati Square

Why: I already have a copy of this, but the movie tie-in trade paperback edition proved to be irresistible.

How much: Php 115.00

  1. Great book. The first time I finished it, I had to just sit & think for a while. Then I started all over again. I read a review that said “there wasn’t an extraneous word in the book”, I’d like to add that there wasn’t a single detail added that wasn’t necessary to the plot. We readers were definately reading on a need-to-know basis.

    • The writing was spare yet evocative. It wasn’t very descriptive as far as narrative is concerned, but the reader can still imagine the ashen world that the author is depicting.
