The Master – Colm Tóibín

The Master - Colm Tóibín

Date Started: July 26, 2011. 5:45 PM. On a bus while stuck in heavy traffic.

This is a retelling of Henry James’s life. Or a portion of it. I was wondering whether I had to have a prior reading of any of the protagonist’s novel, but I ended up reading it anyway without having read one. I have a number of his novels in my stacks of hoarded books, but those would have to wait.

Anyway, it was delicious reading this during the rainy weather we are experiencing even as of this moment. It is not dialogue-driven, at least the first three chapters, but it flows like water anyway. Or maybe it’s just the constant pouring of the skies?

Thoughts? Feelings?
